As rocky as 2016 has been, at least on the writing front there have been some exciting developments. The bittersweet stuff first: Carmilla Season 3 is up! The little web series that could has come to the epic conclusion that I only dreamed I’d be writing back in 2014. It has been such an amazing journey, and I couldn’t have asked for better collaborators than Steph & Ellen, Spencer & Mel, and the many, many others who brought the crazy little world in my brain to life!
As a fitting send off to Carm, Laura, and Co., Steph, Elise, Natasha and I had a terrific time at the Carmilla Panel at New York Comic Con 2016! It was humbling, surreal, and so much fun to meet our fans. Especially since we were there to announce that while Season 3 may be the end of the webseries, Laura and Carmilla aren’t done yet! That’s right: We’re making a Carmilla Movie! Alex Alcoba and I are working away at the script as we speak, and I can hardly wait to watch the team at Shaftesbury bring it to life! You can even pre-order your digital copy right here: http://carmillamovie.vhx.tv/!
In and amidst all this Carmilla excitement, Taboo Theatre remounted Asleep at the Wheel in Halifax as part of their festival of the Uncanny; Rate of Loss had a terrific workshop with Up in the Air Theatre & Mind of a Snail at the Cultch; and I’m hard at work on both the next draft of Rate of Loss and a first draft of The Smallwood Solution for Western Canada Theatre.
And that’s all that’s fit to print as we close out 2016! I hope you’re full of delectable holiday treats, and getting plenty of rest before we plunge into 2017…
