In the grand tradition of my being terrible with online updates, it’s been a while since I’ve been here. But the good news is that lots has been happening in my writing life in the interim — so I’ve got plenty of news!
I was really honoured this year to have my 2019 Climate Change Theatrical Action (CCTA) Short, The Donation, selected as one of the CCTA’s Great Hits for the movement’s 10th Anniversary. It’s lovely The Donation is once again being performed worldwide. I’ve heard of productions in Edinburgh, Vancouver, and Sechelt so far, with more to come, I’m sure.
In other playwrighting news, both Kayak and How to Survive an Apocalypse had lovely readings in Gibsons as parts of their 2024 and 2025 Off The Page Reading Series — and this in addition to Kayak going up in such diverse places as Michigan, Tucson, and the University of New Brunswick — and a production of How to Survive in San Francisco!
In television news, Family Law Season 3 *finally* dropped this year, and I have a script in it! Episode 3.05 — which I wrote with the amazing Sonja Bennett. I’m incredibly proud to have my first TV credits on such a funny, smart, and heartfelt show. I was also thrilled to be part of the PSP’s inaugural DevelopBC program, helping Sonja develop a spectacular pilot into a pitch for a series that I hope you’re all lucky enough to be watching one day! Most exciting of all, I’ve optioned my second show! MUSE Entertainment has picked up the rights for my comedy series Functioning — cross your fingers for me as I venture out into the wilds of network pitching!
Other than that, I’ve continued developing my Narrative for the Climate Crisis workshops — both for the Sustainable Production Forum and as a Masterclass for the Writer’s Guild of Canada (with the generous support of the CBC). Keep your eyes peeled for the next time I get a chance to deliver it!
That’s all for now! I hope you’re healthy and happy and enjoying a lovely start to your fall, wherever you are.
